You can conrol what messages are presented to users who are not logged in or registered and are viewing the post or page with the protected text in it. Once registered or logged in to the correct membership level, they will be able to see the content as if it were a normal page.
File Download & Link Protection
Both files and links can be protected in a number of forms. You can prevent anyone from accessing your files and then use Membership-Plugin to protect the posts, pages and categories that you have the files linked from. This can be used to provide members with a range of download that if the links are added to another site, they would not work.
Payments
Membership-Plugin uses Paypal IPN so that your users are only activated when their payment is confirmed as cleared funds. This will protect you from users canceling their subscription and trying to continue using your site. If a user misses a payment, their account will be deactivated and they will be asked to update their subscription/payment to be able to continue accessing the content assigned to their membership level.
You can have a subscription based system, or a one off payment system. The difference is that with a one off payment system, the user would not sign up for a subscription and would insread make a single payment. When their payment period ends, they will be asked to make another payment if they want to continue accessing the content made available to their membership level.
